The Organiser
The organiser of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ Photo Competition is Small Luxury Hotels of the World Limited, address below. The organiser, employees of the organiser or of its related companies, and any of the official partners, sponsors or associates of the organiser relating to the competition and their families are not eligible to enter the competition.


Eligibility
The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers of all nationalities who are 18 years of age or older, who are not prohibited by any law or regulation from entering and who have access to the Internet. 

No entry fee or other payment is required to enter, nor is the purchase of any item or service necessary. 

An image that has won a prize in a national or international competition or that has been used for commercial purposes (i.e. generated payment or been published) is not eligible for entry.

The organisers reserve the right at their sole discretion to reject any photographs which are deemed to be offensive, obscene, defamatory or in any other way inappropriate or incompatible with the competition.


Entry procedure
Entries must be submitted online by the closing date of July 31, 2008 in accordance with the instructions set out on www.slhphotocontest.com. By submitting an entry entrants will be deemed to have fully read these terms and conditions and agreed to be bound by them.

A maximum of ten entries per person are permitted. Photos must be submitted in high resolution JPEG or GIF format and must not exceed 2mb.


Theme of the competition
The competition is for images that exude a sense of place and experience, an inspiring moment caught during the course of your travels. Images may include, but are not limited to, general travel, scenic views, sports, adventure, architecture, culture, cuisine and spa.

During their prize winning trip each prize winner will be required to take a minimum of 20 high quality, experiential and interesting photographs of their Small Luxury Hotels of the World venue and surrounding location and submit them to the organiser within one (1) month of returning from said trip.


Image editing
Entrants may use image enhancement and manipulation to optimise an entry but are not allowed to add or remove any significant elements. Original files may be requested by the judges if a photograph reaches the shortlist of photographs.


Display of the photos and publicity
By submitting a photograph to the competition all entrants agree to:
the photograph being displayed, together with the entrant’s name, title of the submission, views, votes and comments on the competition web-site;
participate in any publicity in connection with the competition.


Judging
The organisers will appoint an independent judging panel to determine the shortlisted entries and winners. The judging criteria will include: adherence to theme, composition, creativity and originality.

The organisers reserve the right not to award any prizes or a reduced number of prizes if in their opinion an insufficient number of eligible and qualified entries are received or the quality of the entries falls below the required standard. 

The decision of the judges is at their sole discretion and in each case is final and binding. The organisers will not enter into any discussion or correspondence regarding the judging or organisation of the competition.


Prizes
There will be one overall winner of the competition who will have first choice at one of the four prize getaways as set out on the prize page of www.slhphotocontest.com
There will be three runners-up (2nd-4th place) who will then select one of the remaining prize trips in their ranking order of second through fourth place.

Additionally, any register user who submits at least one approved photo will be automatically entered into a prize draw for a five-night stay at any member property of Small Luxury Hotels of the World™. This stay is subject to availability and any others terms laid out by Small Luxury Hotels of the World™. This winner will be chosen at random and notified upon completion of the competition.

The travel/accommodation element of the prizes must be taken by February 28, 2009. The organiser is not responsible for paying any costs, travel or other expenses incurred by a prize winner or companion that are not stated to be included in the prize.

The organisers reserve the right to change or add to the prizes and substitute them with a comparable alternative due to unforeseen circumstances or circumstances beyond their control. Any changes will be posted on the competition web-site. Prizes are non-transferable and no cash equivalent will be offered.


Notification

The prize winners will be announced on the competition web-site by August 31, 2008 and each winner notified by e-mail. Cameras will be dispatched to prize winners within 28 days of notification. Each prize winner will be responsible for ensuring that they can accept their prize and if they cannot then the organisers reserve the right to withdraw it. 

Each prize winner will co-operate fully with the organiser in organising the travel/accommodation elements of the prize by the stipulated date and will supply confirmation of identity and all necessary personal and other information. It is the responsibility of the prize winner and their companion to have a valid Passport, visa and driving licence (if applicable).


Photographs during the prize winning trip.
It is a condition of the competition and of each prize being accepted by the prize winner that during the course of their prize winning trip each prize winner will take a minimum of 20 high quality and interesting photographs of their Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ venue and its surroundings and will submit such photographs in an agreed format to the organiser promptly on their return for unrestricted use by the organiser for marketing and promotional purposes. All such photographs are subject to the copyright and usage terms set out below.


Copyright
It is a condition of entry to the competition that each photograph submitted to the competition, together with those photographs taken by prize winners during the course of their prize winning trip, is the original work of the entrant/prize winner and that the entrant/prize winner owns full unconditional worldwide copyright and all other intellectual rights in it. By submitting any such photograph each entrant/prize winner warrants to the organiser that it does not infringe the privacy, copyright or other intellectual property rights of any third party. 


Use of the photographs by the Organiser
It is a condition of entry to the competition that in relation to each photograph submitted to the competition, together with those taken by prize winners during the course of their prize winning trip, the entrant/prize winner thereby grants to the organiser a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty free, transferable, worldwide licence to use, copy, publicly display, distribute, sub-licence, modify, make derivative works and otherwise fully exploit such photograph for all commercial purposes, including marketing and promotion of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, through any media outlet and in any format without attribution of copyright to the entrant/prize winner and without any payment, compensation or permission.


Liability
Images are uploaded onto the competition web-site at the entrant’s risk and the organisers cannot accept any liability for the unauthorised duplication or use of images submitted to the web-site.

The organiser will not be liable for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant's ability to participate in the competition. 

Other than death or personal injury arising from the acts or omissions of the organiser or its employees, the organiser will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of a prize winner or their companion’s participation in the prize and cannot accept any liability for the various travel, accommodation and activity aspects of the prize which are the sole responsibility of the suppliers of such services. It is the responsibility of each prize winner and companion to ensure that they have adequate travel and any other relevant insurance.
